"Grand as it is, planet Earth is part of something even grander- that great plan of God. Simply summarized, the Earth was created that families might be." Elder Russell M. Nelson

Really busy this week, small blog, we will have more next week.
I have five daffodil plants blooming in our little garden plot which gives me such pleasure.  I am hoping to use some prep day time to add to the garden and clear out the dead vines.

Seminary was wonderful as usual.  The early hour is hard for us some times but the spirit of the group is something we would hate to miss.  As we left, about nine beautiful parrots enjoyed seeds from the tree by the chapel. I couldn't get a picture fast enough to show all nine.

The main theme of our seminary lesson today, talking about Darius and Cyrus, kings of Assyria, letting the Jews go home to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple, is that during opposition, God will soften the hearts of non-members to allow progress in His work and that he is there to catch us when we "fall flat on our faces".

We fed a spaghetti lunch to the elders and taught Elder Yang English for a couple of hours.  They talked about how hard knocking on doors is and said they had figured out of fifty doors, which takes 2-3 hours, they get on average of one response that will take a Book of Mormon.

We attended choir practice and learned we perform next week. We will practice with the orchestra on Monday, practice Friday and Saturday and perform at 3:00 p.m. Sunday.

English class for Elder Yang.

Who knew that I'd end up with an English Teacher.

Wednesday/Thursday, August 3-4

Not much new but we held another branch movie night on Thursday.  I made a pinterest recipe of banana bread with oatmeal and apple crumble topping which was a hit.  We showed the biographical move of President Monson's life which was very good and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

We had heavy rain Thursday resulting in creeks overflowing and backing up traffic.

We visited one of our less actives who is always glad to see us but just not interested in taking the leap and coming to church. We traveled to Bendemeer, a tiny little town with not even a grocery store but it did have a  small church which is used and a nice restored Volkswagen beetle.

This looks like it was in a time capsule. I think that it is a 70's car.

In Fast and Testimony meeting our new convert bore her testimony and stressed how something she did not immediately have a testimony of was the prophet, and that it was hard for her to consider him more than a man.  She said she had been studying him and praying and could now say she knew he was a prophet of God.  We are so happy for her.
